Profile

Isabel Harnden is a traditionally trained painter. She paints in thick strokes of oil paint. Her work is typically gestural and portrays scenes of everyday life in a vivid and contemporary light. Growing up locally in Newcastle she aims to portray its unique charm through her work. Though her primary medium is oil paint, she has worked with a variety of mediums including gouache, watercolour, and ink. She hopes to use paint intuitively to capture the essence of a subject without explicitly painting every detail. Her work aims to intrigue the viewer with unexpected combinations of mark-making.
